The Contemporary discussion to "Peripla" and "Anichchanuga"

The Contemporary discussion to short filmes named "Peripla" and "Anichchanuga" was organized by Sri Lanka Press Council, held successfully at the institutional premises yesterday.
 
Mr. Vidarshana Kannangara, Mr. Sherly Samarasinghe, Mr. Priyantha  Kodippili and Dr. Darshana Ashoka Kumara also participated to the said event. The moderating and Coordination part was done by Mr. Gamini Kandepola .
 
Once the short films screened the discussion was started.  Mr.Gayan Fernando , director of "Peripla " and Mr.Danushaka wijesooriya, Director of " Anichchanuga " expressed their thoughts as well. A large gathering including Mr. Mahinda Pathirana, Senior Lecturer, Chairman to Sri Lanka Press Council and Mr. Niroshana Thambawita, Press Commissioner attended to the event yesterday.

Swabhashabhimanaya and Kumaratunga Munidasa

This year's “Sanniwedana Kathikawatha” programme titled 'Swabhashabhimanaya and Kumaratunga Munidasa' was held on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day which falls on the 21st of February and the commemoration of the Kumarathunge Munidasa on the 2nd of March and the Sinhala Language Day. Prof. Ratnasiri Arangala, Prof. Sandagomi Koparahewa and Srinath Ganewatta were also present on the occasion. All those interested were given the opportunity to join the discussion through Zoom technology.

The Entertainment Program On Bollywood Singer Latha Mangeshkar’s songs

Another successful program of “Sanniwedana Kathikawatha” conducted by SLPC was held on 13 th of December 2019 at the auditorium of Sri Lanka Press Council. The songs which were criticized & enjoyed sung by the famous Bollywood Singer Lata Mangeshkar.

"Vasana Dineki Meka" - An entertainment program on Nadagam and Noorthi songs

An entertainment program on Nadagam and Noorthi songs "Vasana Dineki Meka" organized by the Sri Lanka Press Council was held at the council premises yesterday. The program was coordinated by Mr. Gamini Kandepola, a journalist while Mr. Lionel Gunathilake, a veteran musician with expertise in Nadagam and Noorthi, and Mr. Priyantha Gamage, president of the old film song fans club contributed as the resource persons.

The latest publication of the Sri Lanka Press Council, "Madhya Sameeksha-iv" was offered to Mr. Lionel Gunathilake and Mr. Priyantha Gamage by Press Commissioner Niroshana Tambavita, Assistant Press Commissioners Suroshana Iranga and Dilhani Wijeratne.

Veteran actor Udeni Chandrasiri, veteran musician Jayantha Aravinda and former cultural director Leel Gunasekara and many scholars participated in this program.

Media, Social Media Ethics and New Trends

The second session of the “Sanniwedana Kathikawatha” programme on Zoom Technology based on "Media, Social Media Ethics and New Trends" was held on 16th February 2021 at the Sri Lanka Press Council. Veteran media commentator and lecturer Daya Sri Narendra Rajapaksa also participated in the event. All those interested were also given the opportunity to join the discussion through Zoom technology.

A Review to poetries, by Mahinda Prasad Masimbula

Another Successful Program of Sanniwedana Kathikawatha was held at the auditorium of Sri Lanka Press Council on 26 th of November. Three criticism books on poetry were discussed by Mr. Mahinda Prasad Masimbula in this event.

The Review on Mr. Jayantha Aravinda’s Literary Works

Programme for the “Sanniwedana Kathikawatha” held on 29 th September 2020 at Sri Lanka Press Council auditorium was dedicated on the creations of musician Jayantha Arawinda. The programme held for two hours was enriched with songs and discussions. Many of his drama songs were reviewed providing entertainment as well.

The Role of Literary Art in the Face of the Covid Plague

The first programme of this year's “Sanniwedana Kathikawatha”, organized by the Press Council of Sri Lanka with the aim of promoting literary art, entertainment and promoting a good media culture, was held on 03 February 2020 at the Press Council Auditorium. Arrangements have been made to conduct the program using Zoom technology as public gatherings should be minimized in the face of the covid-19 epidemic spreading in the island

“The Role of Literary Art in the Face of the Covid Plague” was the theme of the discussion, which was attended by veteran writer Chaminda Welagedara and moderated by journalist Gamini Kandepola.

Those interested in the program also had the opportunity to participate through Zoom Technology. The conversation, which lasted nearly two hours, ended with the hope of meeting again in two weeks.

The Press Council of Sri Lanka would like to thank all those who participated in this Zoom Communication Dialogue.

Hari Pudumayi Hari Pudumayi

Another Successful Program of Sanniwedana Kathikawatha was held at the auditorium of Sri Lanka Press Council on 2nd of October. The children’s story series named “Hari Pudumayi Hari Pudumayi” which is written by Thanuja.N.Ayagama was appreciated at the event.

The Disscussion On Apprentice Short Films

Another Successful programme of the “Sanniwedana Kathikawatha” which is organized by the Sri Lanka Press Council was held on 14.09.2020. The discussion on short films was based on the films, “ Windithayo” directed by Upali Nimal, “ Anduru Walakulu” directed by Gayan Fernando and “Gini” directed by Ruwan Pathirana. Mr. Boopathi Nalin Wickramage, Mr Widarshana Kannangara and many other experts participated for this notable occasion.

Anothatta Vila Neluma Nelala

Veteran lyricist Sunil Sarath Perera's lyric concept review program was included in the communication dialogue this time. Several of his songs were critically acclaimed during the program, which was titled "Anothatta Vila Neluma Nelala". Songs like Anothatta Vila /Oba ma samaga athinatha ganna dawasa /Eya yanna giya makila /Oba daase mudu pahasa / Mage ratata dalanda himi saranai and Ra Ra Ra Bombie which were very popular among the listeners in this country were discussed here. He was also present on the occasion.

The Review Program On Literary Works done with "Gurugeethaya” and Review On “Rusiyawa“ Magazine

Another Successful Program of Sanniwedana Kathikawatha was held at the auditorium of Sri Lanka Press Council on 17 th of October 2019.

The first Russian film which was produced on the book named “Guru Geethaya” which is written by Chingees Aithmathaw was screened on the day.

The book named “Guru Panduru” which is translated by Mr. Ariyananda Dombagahawatta a member of the Board at Sri Lanka Press Council and the magazine named”Rusiyawa” which is edited by Mr. Sarath Lal Kumara were reviewed by the scholars.

Programme for “Sanniwedana Kathikawatha was cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic which is spreading rapidly. However as per the health guidelines, Sri Lanka Press Council has recommenced it. The review was held for a collection of short stories called “E As “compiled by Manoj Prasanna, a student of the Diploma course in Journalism & media studies at Sri Lanka Press Council. One of the objectives of this programme is to appreciate and encourage the creations of its diploma students. Many scholars were attended to this occasion.

5th commemoration of veteran singer Mr. Sisira Senarathne

Another program of Sanniwedana Kathikawatha lecture series was held on 18 th of February at the Sri Lanka Press Council auditorium on the occasion of the 5th commemoration of veteran singer Mr.Sisira Senarathne . Mr.Mahinda Pathirana , the chairman of Sri Lanka press Council, Mr Sameera Senarathne & Mrs Subhani Senarathne , lovely children of Mr. sisira Senarathne graced this event . Mr. Piyarathna Gamage conducted the commemoration lecture.

Lets read poems in Facebook

Another Successful Program of Sanniwedana Kathikawatha held at the auditorium of Sri Lanka Press Council on 3 rd of September 2019. The poems which are posted in Facebook were critically appreciated under the topic “Lets read poems in Facebook” . Many scholars including poets participated to this event.

Lokubandara the former speaker of the parliament, Mr. Karunarathne Amarasinghe, Mr. Jayantha Aravinda, Mr. Buddhadassa Galappaththi , Mr. Sisira Kumara Mahagama, Mr. Anurasiri Hettige, Mr. Thimbiriyagama Bandara, Mr. Sunil Sarath Perera, Mr. Shreenath Ganewaththe, Mr. Sunanda Karunarathne and the Press Commissioner of Sri Lanka Press Council Mr. Niroshana Thambawita.

The Independence and Colombo Poetry

Another successful programme of the ““Sanniwedana Kathikawatha” organized by Sri Lanka Press Council took place on the 5 th February 2020 at Council’s Auditorium.The programme, this time centered on “The Independence and Colombo Poetry” with the guest attendance of Mr.Sreenath Ganewaththa and Dayani Gunawardhana. Many other scholars from the field participated too.

Another successful program of “Sanniwedana Kathikawatha” conducted by SLPC was held on 20 th of August 2019 at the auditorium of Sri Lanka Press Council. The Short Story book named “Hoona saha naandunana minissu ” was critically appreciated by scholars which was written by Anuruddhika Gunathilake.

The fourth session of the “Sanniwedana Kathikawatha” programme on Zoom Technology organized by the Press Council of Sri Lanka was held on 31st March 2021. Entitled "Poetry and Social Media", the event was attended by veterans including state award winning poet Sunanda Karunaratne.
