The first school workshop for the year 2019 was held on 25th of February 2019 at the District Secretarial Office in Kalutara

The school Workshop on “Media Literacy and Appreciation Under the series of Media Workshops for Schools conducted by the Sri Lanka Press Council, the first school workshop for the year 2019 was held on 25th of February 2019 at the District Secretarial Office in Kalutara.

The workshop was held under the theme “Media Literacy and Appreciation" and nearly 350 students representing Kalutara District participated to the program. Former Head at the Department of Mass Communication in University of Kelaniya Emeritus Prof. Sunanda Mahendra, Senior Lecturer at University of Kelaniya Mr. Darshana Mapa Pathirage and Visharadha Jagath Wickramasinghe participated as resource persons. The program was held with discussions and conversations.

Senior Attorney-at-Law Mr. Koggala Wellala Bandula the Chairman of SLPC, Assistant Education Director Mr.W.V.D Ranjith, Press Commissioner Mr.Niroshana Thambawita, teachers and journalists representing the district participated to the program.

At the end of the workshop certificates were offered for the students for their participation and a set of publications was offered for each school by the Sri Lanka Press Council.
